If you're in pharma or pharma-adjacent work, say so. Pharma-grade isn't the same as industrial-grade. You need to know which pharmacopeia standard applies. The supplier can't guess that for you.

Step 2: Verify the exact product name, grade, and specification

You need more than a family name. Polyethylene is not enough. Epoxy resin is not enough. Get the exact product code or grade.

It took me about four years and 60+ orders to understand that the product name is just a label; the specification sheet is what matters. When I compared the first failed shipment and the corrected one side by side—same product name, different specs—I finally understood why the details matter. The original quote said epoxy resin. Step 5: Use the right INEOS contact channel

Here's what you need to know: contacting INEOS directly is not always faster or better. For a smaller order, a local distributor with stock is often the smarter route. For a large, long-term contract, a direct INEOS contact can make sense. Both are valid. Just don't get stuck in the middle because you picked the wrong one.

And if you find an INEOS contact number on an old quote or a random LinkedIn message, double-check it against the official site before you send payment or sensitive information. Trust me on this one.

Step 6: Ask for compliance documents before the order, not after

Get the Certificate of Analysis (CoA), the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and any regulatory declarations in hand before you approve anything. If you're in a pharma application, this is non-negotiable. You also want batch numbers and expiry dates, not just a promise that the product is pharma-grade.

If you're planning to make environmental claims about your end product, check the FTC Green Guides. Per FTC 16 CFR Part 260, a claim like recyclable needs to be backed up. Your supplier's documentation—material composition, recyclability status, any certifications—is part of that evidence. Don't wait until your marketing team has printed labels to start collecting it. No product is universally the best. INEOS and its suppliers make products that work well for certain applications. If your application is outside their usual scope, a different supplier might be a better fit. There's no shame in that.
